Book Review: Urban Shaman by Serge Kahili King

Here is my review of the non-fiction book Urban Shaman by Serge Kahili King:

An inspiring book for those seeking or travelling the shaman path

A friend bought me this book as a birthday gift, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. At the time I was concerned that my shaman activities were not progressing as they should, but now I feel calm, confident and filled with renewed enthusiasm about my life journey. If you are curious about what it is to be a shaman, then this is a good book to start with. It is easy to read, does not dictate a strict regime or spiritual practise, and gives you plenty to think about and explore in your own time. If you are already a practising shaman, this book serves as a useful resource for reference and alternative cultural practices.

Book Review: Tapping the Power Within by Iyanla Vanzant

Here is my review of the spiritual non-fiction book, Tapping the Power Within: A Path to Self Empowerment for Women.

This book was written by Iyanla Vanzant, who is a Yoruba priestess and an ordained minister in Christian New Thought. I found the book very easy to read, and her tone was informal and inspirational. She is basically a human just like the rest of us, who has had unique experiences throughout her life that have shaped her spiritual beliefs and general attitude. The book was helpful in making me realize that my own spiritual journey runs alongside my daily life, and on many occasions interconnects with it. I came away with renewed determination and vigour, and I admire Vanzant for her frank accounts of life in describing how other people can learn to help themselves to be happier and more fulfilled.

Spirit Sisters and the Redcliffe Novels

This weekend (Sunday 6th May) I will be at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chester, UK to talk about my Redcliffe novels. I will sell signed copies of Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel) and The Mirador Fantasmagoria, and I will tell people about the upcoming release of Love Kills (A Redcliffe Novel). As part of this promotion I will do a free talk about my books and my work as a spiritual advisor for Spirit Sisters.

There have been several occurrences lately which led me to believe in the connection between myself as a psychic medium and my work as an author. For example, I described to my editor how I envisioned the artwork for Love Kills (A Redcliffe Novel). She responded very excitedly by saying I had described almost exactly what she and her design team had been considering. Coincidence or psychic knowledge? I prefer the latter explanation.

The more I progress on my spiritual pagan path, the more excited and amazed I become at the events that unfold around me. Two years ago I never considered the fact that I would be preparing to launch my second novel, having written a third and currently writing a fourth. It seems that once I stepped out of my rational, restrictive mindset, I was set free to truly express myself and do what is natural. And the result is exhilarating, exciting and totally rewarding. Now you must excuse me, I have some writing to do...

Mind, Body and Spirit Event in Nantwich, Cheshire, UK

Fabulous news!

I will be exhibiting at the prestigious Mind, Body and Spirit event at Nantwich Civic Hall, Nantwich, Cheshire on Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1st April. I will primarily be available to do Tarot readings and Oracle card readings for people seeking spiritual guidance. But I will also be selling copies of my paranormal romance novel Love Hurts and young adult anthology The Mirador Fantasmagoria.

The Mind, Body and Spirit event is a fantastic place to meet new people and try new experiences. You could  have a Tarot reading, or an Oracle card reading for a bit of spiritual guidance. You could have some holisitc therapy. I particularly recommend Eternal Healing Therapies for reiki, Swedish body massage, reflexology, Indian head massage and Ear Candling. There will be people offering aura imaging, psychic art, and a variety of merchandise.

There will also be an intinery of workshops and talks that you can attend, all included in the very reasonable entry price. For more details see their website http://www.rosemarydouglas.com
