Festival Fun and the School Summer Holidays

Hello my friends, and Merry Summer Solstice!

I am recovering from a wonderfully entertaining weekend at the Middlewich FAB Festival, where I had the honour of exhibiting my books in the boatyard at Middlewich Narrowboats. I had a prime spot right opposite the stage, and I watched a fantastic variety of singers and musicians perform their sets. It was good to see so many people visiting our little town, and to hear so much praise for the festival. Credit to the organisers, that's for sure!

Now we are on the slippery slope to school summer holidays. My eldest daughter has almost finished her first year at primary school, and my youngest her first year at preschool. There will be emotional moments as I watch them growing up, but for now I am a little nervous at the prospect of being at home with them for almost seven weeks solid. Luckily, I have booked my mum in for backup and we will invade her house for a week, and then we have a family holiday planned in August. What are your plans for summer?

In the meantime, I am preparing for our next big event, the Northwich Memorial Court mind, body and spirit festival on 30th and 31st July. See you there!

Books in the Boatyard at Middlewich FAB Festival

This week is very exciting because we are preparing for the annual Middlewich Folk and Boat festival, and this year I am very pleased to announce that I will be exhibiting my books in the boatyard! Come and see me at Middlewich Narrowboats on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June. I will be floating about (not in the canal, I hope), although I do have Rose Fete parade duties with my daughters on the Saturday morning and there is lots happening all around the town to keep everyone busy. Suffice to say, I will be around, and I hope you will be too. See you at #MFAB!

SCRIBE Short Story Competition 2015 #ScribeFest

In June 2015, Middlewich residents and visitors from across the UK joined in a weekend long celebration of the town’s renowned FAB (Folk and Boat) festival.

Up to 15 venues played host to music and dance throughout the weekend on the Middlewich canalside and in the town centre. Artists from around the world entertained thousands of visitors each day.

Together with hundreds of canal boats and the town centre setting, the Middlewich FAB festival has continued to provide a fabulous showcase of live entertainment every June since 1990, and has attracted renowned performers including Bob Geldof, Lindisfarne, Ade Edmonson, Neville Staples and many more.

In recognition of this amazing and unique event, the SCRIBE festival has based the 2015 under 16s and over 16s short story competitions on FAB.
